About the Artist
Marilyn Meadows After a 20 year break from painting and a move to their present farm in Mid Canterbury, Marilyn was talked into going to a folk art class by a friend. After a couple of classes she was hooked. Then 2 years later some friends asked her to teach them, she started with just one class a week and now teaches one afternoon and two evenings a week plus the odd workshop, Marilyn also travel teaches. At the beginning of last year Marilyn planned and built Val Verde Studio on the family Dairy Farm in Ashburton. The studio is well equipped with all necessary supplies for students including wood, paint, brushes and a large selection of books. If they dont have them they can get them Marilyn enjoys painting with as many teachers as she can go to and really enjoys being able to go to overseas teachers when they come to Christchurch. She has designed a couple of her own pieces, and would like time to do more, but loves teaching and encouraging others into the wonderful world of folkart. Marilyn was the President of the Folk and Decorative artist guild Canterbury for the 1999-2000 year. |
